January Bead Star, Nancy Libby
How long have you been beading & what got you started? I have been beading since January 2009 and have not stopped since. I first purchased a tube of glass beads for a snowman project I was working on and discovered that there were a million things one could do with a tube of beads. I am excited about learning from them and sharing this great hobby. What types of beads do you like working with? I love working w/lampwork beads. They are my favorite. Glass feels so good against the skin and lays perfectly on the wrist or neck. What motivates you in your design element? Mostly, the bead itself and the color. Each beach has a life of its own and tends to dictate what the bead should become. There are lots of design ideas out there, but, the beads themselves inspire the most ideas. What is your favorite beading technique and what color do you like working with? So far, I have only strung beads or wire wrapped them. I am so looking forward to exploring bead embroidery, peyote and a few of the other stitches that create such beautiful designs. The possibilities are endless. My fave colors are predominantly purple and aqua. If money were no object, what bead(s) would you select to work with and why? I think it would have to be Swarovski crystals. Anything you make with those beads will sparkle beyond belief. I particularly love the AB finish to the beads as it makes them almost come to life. Everyone should at least try beading, you won't ever be sorry you did.
